Limited Warranty

Portbid Pty. Limited ACN 050 983 483 t/a GnG Sales  (GnG Sales) as the exclusive distributor of Autoglym products in Australia is proud to offer this limited warranty on Autoglym Carbon Shield (Carbon Shield).


There are three Carbon Shield products with various applications: Carbon Shield Exterior for paintwork, Glass Guard for Glass and Interior Protectant for Interior fabric and leather upholstery and carpets (Carbon Shield Products).


What is covered by this warranty?

Subject to the Terms and Conditions and Exclusions detailed below, this warranty covers the Carbon Shield Products and their applications. It warrants that Carbon Shield Exterior will provide a barrier against contaminants and preserve the paintwork depth of colour and shine, Glass Guard will provide exceptional water repellency for side and rear windows where a rear wiper is not present and Interior Protectant will provide protection against most spills, marks and stains on fabric and leather upholstery and carpets. 


The specific warranties given in respect of the individual Carbon Shield Products are: 


  • External Carbon Shield – any notable deterioration in the paint finish of your vehicle during your ownership caused by traffic film, contaminants, fresh tree sap (Note 1), fresh bird droppings (Note 2) and bug splatter. 
  • Glass Guard – Will provide excellent water repellency for side and rear windows and make glass easier to clean.
  • Internal Carbon Shield – Any noticeable degradation or staining caused by spillage of drinks, water, coffee, soft drinks, milk or any similar non-corrosive liquids, provided the spillage has been removed immediately.


Warranty Term 

This is a non transferable warranty for a term of 5 years from the date of application of the relevant Carbon Shield Product provided the owner and the vehicle have been registered with GnG Sales at time of application. The warranty will cease to apply on the transfer of the vehicle to a new registered owner. 


Warranty Terms and Conditions 

  • Carbon Shield must only be applied by an authorised professional applicator 
  • The warranty only covers applications to new and used (under 7 years old) private vehicles. It does not cover commercial vehicles, trucks, campervans, utes, and decaled vehicles. 
  • If Carbon Shield develops a defect, you must not attempt to repair it yourself without first receiving advice from GnG Sales or following the steps provided on the Carbon Shield website or documentation provided when you purchased the product. Doing any other corrective action may cause damage which is not covered by this limited warranty. On the advice of GNG Sales, only service agents authorised by GnG Sales should perform service or repairs vehicles which have been applied with Carbon Shield.
  • The customer must regularly wash and maintain their vehicle using one of the simple methods suggested in the documentation provided or on the Carbon Shield Website with the products supplied in the aftercare kit or suggested on the website. Any area specific soiling such as but not limited to tree sap and bird droppings should be removed as quickly as possible. Any spills should be removed immediately. 


What is not covered by this warranty?

Certain conditions will not be considered a direct cause of the application of Carbon Shield Products and are exclusions not covered by this warranty. These conditions are as follows: 

External – any non-painted surface and painted surface affected by: 

  • Anything covered under vehicle paint manufacturers warranty. 
  • General wear and tear.  
  • Neglect or lack of reasonable care and use of cleaning processes contrary to Autoglym’s recommended procedures. 
  • Pre-existing paint defects either caused by manufacturer or subsequent repair or re-spraying. 
  • Bird droppings or tree sap that have not been removed from surface by within 48 hours. 
  • Malicious or accidental damage caused by vandalism, fire, floodwater, stone chips, egging, sunscreens, marring, rust, delamination, paint, graffiti and other such material and extreme weather conditions and their secondary effects. 
  • Hard water such as bore water. 
  • Untreated water spots. 
  • Use of non PH cleaning products, cutting compounds and abrasives. 
  • Scratching, swirl marks and hazing.  
  • Any areas repaired or replaced through accident damage or modification and not appropriately treated with Carbon Shield. 

Internal – Any carpets or fabric and leather upholstery affected by: 

  • Damage caused by insect remains, vomit, or animal/human biological waste. 
  • Any non original carpets or upholstery not appropriately treated with Carbon Shield. 
  • Damage to surfaces by burning, ink, paints, dyes, or other corrosive substances. 
  • Ripped, torn, scratched or scrapped fabric and leather. 
  • Any smells or odours. 


Registration of Warranty 

Each Carbon Shield Product has a unique identifying code. On application of Carbon Shield by an approved applicator your vehicle will be registered with GnG Sales by the applicator in the name of the registered owner.  

Once registered, the owner will be given a warranty certificate dated and signed by the applicator. The vehicle will only be covered once the appropriate registration is completed and confirmation is sent to you as the owner by GnG Sales.

Please quote your Carbon Shield Product code that is located on your warranty card and we will advise you of the appropriate action to be taken. If there is an issue that involves a potential warranty claim you may be responsible for getting the vehicle to a location that will enable our Technical Service Specialist to access what action is to be taken.

Once your claim is received, a representative of GnG Sales will help determine whether your warranty claim is valid and, if it is, will inform you how GnG Sales will honour it.  This limited warranty only covers repairs to the application of Carbon Shield Product.  Any other costs incurred, such as transporting the vehicle to and from the Technical Service Specialist are not covered by this limited warranty.

After you lodge a warranty claim, GnG Sales may, before providing warranty service, require that you:

  1. Provide evidence that the owner of the vehicles matches the registered warranty name.
  2. Provide evidence of continued ownership of the vehicle.
  3. Provide images if necessary.
  4. Answer questions designed to assist with diagnosing potential faults.
  5. Provide a written account of the situation if required.
  6. Follow the advice offered by GnG Sales, including potentially correcting issues that they have with products that have been provided in the after care kit or additional products GnG provides.



No authorised dealer or repairer of GnG Sales has authority to vary the terms of this warranty. 


No other warranties except those implied and which cannot be excluded by law are given by GnG Sales in respect of the goods or services supplied. Where it is lawful to do so and you have submitted a valid warranty claim, the liability of GnG Sales under this warranty is limited to a maximum of $5,000 for the remediation and reapplication of the relevant Carbon Shield Product, or the payment for the cost of remediation by an approved applicator or the refund of the cost of the original application at GnG Sales' option.


The benefits given by this warranty are additional to other rights and remedies that you may have under any laws in relation to the Carbon Shield Products.  The Carbon Shield Products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
